Thesis Project 2018
A concept Show Set package for a dark ride attraction based on Doctor Who.
HIGH CONCEPT
After the Doctor has sent out a distress signal, guests are recruited by River Song and the Unified Intelligence Task Force to travel throughout time and space to save him.
the project
For my MFA in Themed Entertainment Design Thesis project, I decided to put into action the elements of design I acquired throughout my Engineering and MFA degrees as well as on my Summer 2017 internship as a Show Set Designer at Universal Creative. The project was supposed to last what a regular quarter at SCAD does, ten weeks, but I decided to take it a little bit further, and so I started with the research and creating the story in collaboration with a show writer, Madison Alford, five weeks earlier, giving me 15 weeks in total to prepare this project.

Ride system
Modeled and rendered in Solidworks
The Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey Adventure will utilize two central ride systems: the REVOLUTION™ True-Trackless Ride system and the RoboCoaster carousel system. Each ride vehicle will be called "CombanionMobile"

For the scenes where the "CompanionMobile” vehicles are imitating the Tardis Movements and working as a transition from full decorated sets to a different full decorated scene, the Trackless vehicle will lock into a platform in the KUKA arm. Once in the full-decorated sets, the CompanionMobile will be able to wander outside of a single line using the Trackless Ride technology like the REVOLUTION™ ride vehicle. The perfect example of this is in the scene “Valley of the Angels” where guests will be able to explore the area, hear how the vehicles communicate with each other, and interact and respond to what is around them and maybe even to run from what is chasing them. For this last part, the ride vehicle will use Vehicle Dynamics technology. Each vehicle will have "personality,” to give the guest a more real and immersive experience.

As for the interactive component, every guest will have a "Sonic Blaster” shooter mounted on the ride vehicle. They will be able to stun Daleks, use it as a flashlight, and to keep a power generator on.

HIGH CONCEPT
Guests join a group of dwarves on their quest to the Lonely Mountain in search of reclaiming their homeland from a fearsome, gold-hoarding dragon.
the project
Join Thorin Oakenshield’s Company of dwarves into the Kingdom under the Mountain. Inside, walk through the halls where piles of gold and treasures await. Hallways will guide you to the center of the mountain. Remember, don’t awaken what’s hiding.
Along the way, you’ll encounter Thorin, Balin, and some of the other members of the company. You’ll face your biggest fears when you discover that the Kingdom under the Mountain is running under new management and Smaug has decided he wants it to stay that way.

the project
In a total of six weeks, a team of three students assigned by the professor designed a theme park:
“Celestia: the First Night Sky Theme Park”
Proposed to be located in Scotland. Each one of us came up with two (2) theme park lands within this theme park. I entirely designed “Red Cap Ruins” and “Cailleach Summit.” Each one of these lands holds its attractions, restaurants, merchandise locations, and resort areas. And each of those, include story treatment and full concept detail. Here is the part of the project I collaborated with.

the project
The assigned project for this class was to design a parade for a park, land, or event. I chose to create a Mario nighttime parade. It would have a Mario Kart themed parade pre-show while the guests wait for the parade followed by the banner signifying the start of the parade. I designed 3 floats with characters and other units as compliments to each float. Each float and unit will fully light up and utilize an internal projection system.
The floats themed after Luigi's Mansion and Mario 3D land are ready to light up the night.
